According to the requirement stipulated in the Opinions on Further Strengthening the Development of Teaching Staff Team in Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universitiesissued by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Education, the Education Department of Ideological and Political Theory Courses with independent organizational structure was established in January 2011 on the basis of the original Ideological and Political Research and Education Section of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and was renamed as the College of Marxism of Jiangsu University Of Technology in January 2017. The College of Marxism mainly undertakes the teaching tasks of 5 public compulsory courses for the university: Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Fundamentals of Law, Outline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, Introduction of the Basic Principles of Marxism, Introduction of Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and Situation and Policies.
The College of Marxism establishes 5 teaching and research sections respectively for Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Fundamentals of Law, Outline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, Introduction of the Basic Principles of Marxism, Introduction of Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and Situation and Policies, and has multiple platforms such as university science and technology demonstration and innovation team for “localization of Marxism in China”, key discipline for project establishment and development of Marxism, research institute of localization of Marxism in China, research center of fiscal and tax law, etc. There are 37 faculty members in the college, including 9 professors, 1 researcher, 13 associate professors and 11 PhDs, as well as 78 part-time teachers. The college has preliminarily established a high-quality teaching and scientific research team.
The teachers of the College of Marxism adhere to the people-oriented idea, keep close to the life and are intimate with students. They actively explore the education and teaching reform, and dynamically integrate red culture and socialist core values into the teaching practice of ideological and political courses. By flexibly applying multiple teaching approaches including elicitation method, participation pattern, interaction mode, discussion mode, infiltration mode, research mode, etc. and dynamically combining theory inculcation, practice and education, sound teaching effects have been achieved.The teachers of the College of Marxism have vigorously carried out scientific research activities, received approval for 4 projects of The National Social Science Fund of China and 15 projects at provincial and ministerial level, published 11 academic monographs, and published about 100 academic papers in authoritative journals and CSSCI source journals. Faculty members of the college have won over 20 awards, including 6 Awards for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Jiangsu Province, Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences in Colleges and Universities of Jiangsu Province, Award for Quality Projects of Social Science Application of Jiangsu Province, Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Changzhou City. All these have developed a strong atmosphere for academic research.
